TROUBLE-SHOOTING ================ Explorer is an exciting, full-featured product that makes full use of all of the capabilities of your computer. It is recommended that you do not run any other programs while running Explorer to achieve the best possible performance. If you find that the graphics look incorrect, you likely have your video card set to less than 256 colours. A minimum of 256 colours are required to run Explorer correctly. Change your video to support 256 or more colours. Windows: If you find that videos are not playing, you probably did not install QuickTime during the installation. To correct the problem, run the installation again and ensure that you perform the QuickTime installation. Macintosh: Explorer requires a system with a minimum of 8MB of ram installed. However, some extensions may consume too much memory to allow Explorer to run properly. In order to use the program you may need to remove or turn off some of the extensions. Make sure that you do not remove the QuickTime, Sound Manager or CD-ROM extensions since you will need these to run the Explorer. You can also increase performance by allocating more memory to Explorer. This requires you to install the software to your hard drive. Select the Canadian Geographic Explorer icon in the Explorer folder on your hard drive, then choose Get Info from the File menu. Select the preferred size (in the bottom right corner) and set it as high as your RAM will allow. Close the information window.
